Superbad
The movie "Superbad" was a true comedy. I loved this movie mainly because it was a huge trendsetter. This movie seemed to have make it's own genre. A whole new type of comedy! I wish I could explain it but I can't. All I know is once this movie came out, alot more movies very similar to it started coming out. Also, you started to see more characters more similar to the main three characters in Superbad. They even played in some other similar movies. The three main characters in this movie are Seth(Jonah Hill), Evan(Michael Cera), and Fogell(Christopher Mintz-Plasse). Seth was the fat funny kid that was always having bad things happen to him throughout the movie. Evan was the really shy character in the movie. Fogell was the nerdy character. My favorite character of them all was Seth. He kept me laughing hard with all of the funny comments he made when he was mad and he was mad for the majority of the movie because of all the bad things that was happening to him. He got hit by a car, spit on by one of the popular kids at his school, he was bled on by a girl's menstrual cycle while dancing at a party, and the list goes on! He kept me laughing in all of his scenes. This movie was about three friends who were unpopular at their school but was luckily invited to a popular party because Seth had a fake ID and the girl who threw the party, Jules, asked him to buy alcohol for the party. So the movie was just about these three friends' quest to get alcohol for the party and then the after math of that. Fogell was the character that impressed me the most because he was supposed to be the nerdy kid out of the group meaning he was supposed to be the lame one. Funny thing is he had the best night out of the three of them. He got to hang out with Cops all night and got drunk with them and smoke cigarrettes with them. They joy rode around the town doing silly things. He even got to shoot one of the policemen's gun. And to top everything off he got the closest to having sex that night out of the three of them which was their main goal for that night. Unfortunately, his cop friends bursted through the door as soon as he started. This movie will always be remembered for the new era it brought for movie making and it will always be one of my favorites.
Borat
The movie "Borat" is one of the most unique comedies of all time. I am a person who is all for unique things and I love comedy so this was the perfect movie for me to see. Before I saw it I had heard it was funny but no one was particularly crazy about the movie. For most of my friends it was the type of funny where they would never watch it again on their own will. But for me it was the type of humor you had to watch over and over again. There are many different things that can make me laugh. One unique thing about this movie is that the main character, Sacha Baron Cohen who played Borat, did many hilarious things in this movie "by mistake". By that I mean he was in all seriousness in everything he did in this movie as his character. So without saying any intentional jokes the whole movie, he managed to still make the movie very funny. That is why I love this movie so much. In the movie Borat was from a place called Kazakstan. His plan was to go to the United States to gain more information on American culture. So Borat traveled to the U.S. and visited some popular places where he interviewed people and experimented. What made it so funny was all the ridiculous mistakes he was making while experimenting. He would try to do things in the U.S. the way they were done where he was from and everything would just go terribly wrong. For an example, he went to go use the bathroom at a lady's house who he was interviewing. He came back in the room with his bowel movement in a plastic bag and asked her where should he put it. Too funny! Another event was when he went to this parade where he met many friendly men only to later find out he was at a gay pride parade. When a man told him that he then replied "You mean to tell me that the man that tried to stick rubber fist in my anus is a homosexual"? This movie filled me with laughter all because of the many misunderstandings Borat came across in this movie. Sacha Baron Cohen did a wonderful job with the character and I don't think their would have been a better choice for this character than the master of disguise himself.

Taken
"Taken" is a great movie! I love this movie so much mainly because of the main character. Liam Neeson played the character Bryan Mills in this movie. His performance was great, but the unique characteristics he possessed in this movie were incredible! The story line was great as well. A quick summary of the movie would go a little something like this: Bryan Mills had been divorced from his wife whom he had a daughter with. His daughter, Kim, wanted to go on a trip to Europe with her best friend. She told her father, Bryan Mills, that it was to visit some art museums when in reality it was to follow a rock band around on their tour. Her mother knew the truth but they decided to lie to Bryan because they knew he wouldn't approve of the truth and he was required to approve of it because she was under-aged and was leaving the country. They're plan was successful as he approved of her going. When they had gotten to the airport, Bryan had ran across a map of the tour of the rock band Kim and her friend planned on following and he was furious. Nevertheless, he let her go anyways. The mother, Lenore, thought that Bryan was being too up tight on Kim and she yelled at him for not letting his daughter live her life how she wants to. So Kim went off to Europe. They got to their destination which was when Kim was supposed to call her dad, but she had forgot. Kim also told her father that she would be staying with two of her friends older cousins, but they really were the only two there. After calling her several times while the music was playing too loud in the house, she finally answered for her dad and went into another room. While in the other room she could see the room her friend was in through the glass. In the middle of her phone conversation, she saw three men come in the house and grab her bestfriend. Her dad told her to get under the bed and informed her that she would be taken next. This was my favorite part of the whole movie! One of the men who had kidnapped Kim picked up her phone and put it their ear. Without him even saying anything her father then said "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, then I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you". This is the most craziest thing I have ever heard someone say on a movie and that is now my favorite quote of all time from a movie. When he said that, I knew from then and there that this movie was going to be great. His skills were indeed very unique and he had the ability to do all that it took to go to Europe and get his daughter back and kill any and everyone who stood in his way. He did just that in a spectacular fashion. The scenes in this movie were really graphic and extravagant. Overall, this was an excellent movie and I will always remember it.

Ray
The movie "Ray" is one movie I can truly say had an affect on my life. It was an influential movie for my stage in life. The movie "Ray" is a biography of the life of the blind sensation Ray Charles. This movie was so great mainly because of the story line of Ray Charles. He went blind at a young age. But he didn't use that as an excuse and he didn't want anyone pitty him for it. He made it big in the music business after a while. Everyone loved his music and when he found his own swagger people loved him even more. Unfortunately he got hooked on drugs and it got out of hand for him. He eventually got busted by the police and had to go to rehab. This is the part where the movie became influential to my personal life. At the time when I first saw this movie I had an addiction on my hands just like Ray Charles. I could not stop sucking my finger! So when I saw how addicted he was to drugs, I related that to my addiction. When he was in rehab, they had him sleep in a empty room with no drugs and at first it was very tough on him. He couldn't even sleep. He just rolled over in the bed all night sweating really hard. As time went on it got better and better for him and by the time he left the rehabilitation center he was no longer addicted to drugs. That part of the movie touched me so much that I quit sucking my finger that very same night. It was difficult for me just like it was for him. But I told myself if he can quit drugs, I know I can quit sucking my finger. I had trouble sleeping without my finger in my mouth for about a week. I didn't give up though. I just kept sleeping on my hands so I wouldn't be tempted. By the end of the first week, I no longer had a desire to suck my finger. Also, they couldn't have chose a better person to play Ray Charles. Jamie Foxx was exceptional in his performance in this movie. He sounded just like Ray Charles. He even looked just like Ray Charles in my opinion. The movie was so real to me that it had an actual impact on my life and that's why I love the movie so much.
The Temptations
I believe the movie "The Temptations" should go down as one of the greatest films in history. I fell in love with the movie from the moment I first saw it. I watched it over and over! That was a few years back. I still watch it from time to time though. An interesting thing about me watching this movie was when I first saw the movie, I had never heard of an old group named The Temptations so I didn't even think they really existed. I assumed that they were just a made up group that came from the mind of some very creative movie director. So when I discovered that they were actually a real group and that the movie was based on a true story, that made the movie even better in my eyes. This movie made me fall in love with the music that the original Temptations had made and I listened to it often during a certain period of time. All the characters did a great job with the characters they were acting out. The movie was so real to me that by the time I saw a picture of the real Temptations, they looked like the fake Temptations to me. The story line of the movie is historical. I don't know what was true and what wasn't, but all I know is that the movie exemplified a legacy for the Temptations. I thought that David Ruffin was the most interesting character out of the group. He was a great singer and performer but had some bad problems off of the stage. He couldn't resist the temptation of drugs and that ended up being his downfall. I also like how Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin started something big and stuck to it the whole way through the good times and the bad. And although it was sad, I thought the scene in which Paul Williams killed himself was pretty good too. The movie couldn't have been set up in any better way.

Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood
My favorite movie ever is "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood". This is by far the funniest movie known to man! The movie was written by Shawn and Marlon Wayans who were the two main characters as well. This movie is a parody of most of the popular "hood movies", or movies with predominately black people in the ghetto. It mainly tries to mimic the hood movie "Boyz N the Hood". Basically, this movie takes a whole bunch of popular scenes from different hood movies, that were serious scenes in the original movie, and turns them into hilarious scenes. Shawn Wayans' acting name in this movie was "Ashtray". He was supposed to play the role of the serious character trying to make it out of the hood, but everything he did in the movie wound up being funny anyways. Marlon Wayans' acting name in this movie was "Loc Dog". He portrayed the main thug in this movie. But he wasn't your typical thug. Nearly every single thing he did in this movie was funny as well. As a matter of fact, the only objective for this movie was to simply make the audience laugh! Nothing else! No morals. No values. Just laughter! Thats my type of movie because if it is one thing I love to do, it's laughing. Even when you thought something serious was about to take place in the movie, it always found it's way back to comedy. For instance, there was one scene in the movie where there was a gang that was in a back alley appearing to jump a newcomer into the gang by way of fighting. One of the gang members asked "Y'all ready to jump this fool in?" They all replied "Yeah" then they started off what sounded like a gang chant. Then they started turning two jump ropes at one time making the newcomer double dutch. Another thing I love about this movie is that there are so many small things that you have to really be paying attention to the movie so that you can catch. For instance, there is a girl in the movie named Dashiki who Ashtray falls in love with. Apparently she is well known for getting around a lot and sleeping with many different men. One scene when Ashtray is getting ready to go inside of her house, they quickly show her address which is 6969 Penetration Avenue. Now if that is not comedy then I don't know what is. Another quick seen that was ridiculously funny was when they were at a party and one of Ashtray's friends said "look at them two freaks getting busy on the dance floor" and then they showed the two people on the dance floor with all of their clothes off literally engaging in sexual intercourse. I could go on and on for pages and pages explaining the many funny scenes in this movie. That's why it is my favorite movie of all time!
